ℹ How to read this map

What you see

Real-time VHF propagation via Sporadic-E (Es) — a thin ionised layer at ~105 km altitude that reflects radio signals over long distances.

MUF & foEs

The MUF (Max Usable Frequency) rises with Es intensity. A higher MUF opens higher bands:

MUF > 50 MHz → 6m open  ·  MUF > 70 MHz → 4m  ·  MUF > 144 MHz → 2m

The foEs is the critical frequency of the Es layer, back-calculated from active spots. FM spots (88–108 MHz) give the most accurate foEs.

foEs vs 2m chance

< 15 MHz❌ Very unlikely
15–20 MHz🟡 Small
20–25 MHz🟠 Possible
25–30 MHz🟢 Good
> 30 MHz✅ Strong
